Info: Comments: ---------------------------------------------------------- Topics: Overview What's New What's Next Ripple Currents Farads FaradJobs Overview -------- Welcome to the first issue of FaradNotes, the e-mail news- letter giving you advance notice of the latest happenings at FaradNet. This newsletter will be e-mailed to FaradNet Subscribers and Sponsors as events warrant. At least one issue per month is planned. It is intended to be a brief overview of significant events in the industry and at FaradNet. You will want to refer to the appropriate section at the web site for further details. Since this is the first issue we will begin with a review of what has happened at FaradNet since it began operation August 30, 1996. FaradNet went online with only a handful of capacitor catalogs, 212 capacitor company addresses, 30 raw material and service vendor addresses, and 4 capacitor distributor addresses. The site consisted of about 100 pages, and had 9 short form capacitor catalogs, 5 spacer paper catalogs and 3 aluminum foil catalogs. In the intervening weeks FaradNet doubled in size and now lists nearly 300 capacitor companies located all around the world. The list is still growing. There are now 33 vendor and 39 distributor addresses listed. All addresses have hot-linkable web site and e-mail addresses, where applicable. ---------------------------------------------------------- What's New ---------- ...at FaradNet. ** The first installment of Deeley's classic book "Electroly- tic Capacitors" was up loaded to FaradNet. This book will be used as the foundation for a comprehensive treatise on all types of capacitors. Look for the book in the Knowl- edge, Learning and Links area of FaradNet. The unique characteristics of the WWW facilitate ongoing updates to this knowledgebase. Hypertextual links will be used to enhance the usefulness of the material by allowing access in a multitude of ways. ** A Reference Document database of technical literature was added. ** Meetings & Seminars and News & Views digest pages were started. ** The Ripple Currents feature was added to the Knowledge, Learning & Links section. What's Next ----------- ...at FaradNet. ** Other knowledgebases are planned for all of the capaci- tor types and key components. The order of creation will be mostly dependent on the order in which sponsors are en- listed. For example, when a ceramic capacitor company becomes a sponsor, then work on the knowlegebase will be shifted to give some focus to ceramic capacitor technology. The same holds true for a spacer paper vendor, etc. ** A moderated Bulletin board to "ask the experts" anything related to capacitors and capacitor materials. ** Addresses sorted by country and product type. ** Several dozen capacitor company and vendor addresses are in the queue and will be uploaded soon. ** At least 14 more capacitor catalogs are in the queue and will be installed in the next week or so. ---------------------------------------------------------- Ripple Currents --------------- ...within the electrolytic capacitor industry. ** AIRCRAFT ELECTROSHOCK THERAPY!
